Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information Supplements Buddy collects when you use supplementsbuddy.ca, why, who else receives it, and the rights you have under Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (as amended by Law 25) and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Who we are

Supplements Buddy operates supplementsbuddy.ca, a website that compares supplement prices across Canadian retailers, shipping to your province included. Supplements Buddy is responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

Person in charge of personal information

Our Privacy Officer is responsible for the protection of personal information at Supplements Buddy. For any question, request or complaint about your personal information, write to [email protected].

What we collect today

The site has no user accounts, no sign-up, no contact form and no newsletter. You can use it without telling us who you are.

• Technical data sent by your browser. Like any website, each visit sends your IP address, browser type, device type, the page requested, the referring page and the time of the request to our hosting provider, which keeps them in its server logs and uses them to deliver and secure the site.
• Network error reports. Our hosting provider asks browsers that support it to report failed connections to the site (network error logging). These reports contain technical data about the failed request.
• Your choices on the page stay on your device. The province you pick, your search and your filters are used in your browser to compute prices and are not sent to us. If you switch between light and dark mode, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it; it is never sent to us.

We do not use cookies, analytics, advertising trackers or social media widgets, and we do not sell or rent personal information.

Why we use it

• To deliver the site and its pages to your browser.
• To keep the site secure and available, for example to block abusive traffic and fix connection problems.

Third parties

• Hosting: Cloudflare, Inc. The site is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages and its network), which processes the technical data above on our behalf. Cloudflare operates servers in several countries, including the United States, so this data may be processed outside Quebec and Canada, where it is subject to local laws. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
• Product images. Product photos are loaded directly from the retailers' and their platforms' servers (for example Shopify's image servers). When your browser loads an image, that server receives the technical data your browser sends.
• Retailer sites and affiliate programs. When you follow a link to a store, you leave supplementsbuddy.ca and the store's own privacy policy applies. Some links are or may become affiliate links: the store or the affiliate network may then use cookies on its own site to record that you came from Supplements Buddy, so that we may earn a commission at no cost to you. We receive commission reports, not your name or your order details.
• Amazon Associates. Supplements Buddy is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.ca. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. If you follow a link to Amazon, Amazon's privacy notice applies.

How long we keep it

We do not keep a database of visitors. Server logs and network error reports are kept by Cloudflare for the limited periods set in its own policies, then deleted. The theme choice stays in your browser until you clear your browser's site data.

Your rights

Subject to the law, you have the right to:

• ask whether we hold personal information about you, and get access to it;
• ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous;
• withdraw your consent to a use of your information, and ask us to stop disseminating it;
• be informed of how your information is used and who it is shared with;
• file a complaint with us, and with the authorities below if you are not satisfied with our answer.

Cookies

supplementsbuddy.ca does not set cookies. The only thing the site stores in your browser is your light or dark mode choice, in local storage, if you change it. Retailer and affiliate sites you visit from our links may set their own cookies, under their own policies.

Children

The site is meant for adults buying supplements. It is not directed at children under 14 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when what we collect changes, and change the date at the top. Free accounts (saved products and price alerts) are planned: this policy will be updated before they launch, to describe the information they need.
